Separating a sample fragment with a diamond wheel while keeping the mechanically affected zone to a minimum. Feed rate is set in advance and held automatically, and the rigid base damps vibration — the cut comes out even, with no burn marks, cracks or structural deformation.
The technology suits more than metals: ceramics, crystals, hard alloys, rock, concrete, organic and biological materials. Positioning accuracy is ±0.1 mm or better. A closed cooling loop removes heat from the cutting zone, so the material structure next to the cut stays unchanged.
